CTOnews.com, September 7 (Xinhua)-- Apple recently lost a lawsuit with iPhone users in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and was ordered by the court to replace the same new iPhone, paying litigation costs of 15,000 rupees (CTOnews.com Note: about 1319 yuan) and paying it an additional 10,000 rupees (currently about 879 yuan) in compensation.

CTOnews.com quoted local media as saying that the iPhone model was not specified in the article, and the incident was summarized as follows:

The iPhone was bought in Saudi Arabia and was given as a gift to Pankaj, the plaintiff in the case. There are network and camera problems in the use of Pankaj.

Pankaj took the iPhone to the local Apple Service Center for repairs and was told that the device was out of warranty and that he had to pay for it if he repaired it.

The Apple Service Center says these problems may be caused by potential tampering by users.

Pankaj believes that these problems are the original faults of the equipment and rejects the maintenance cost outside the warranty period.

Pankaj submitted an application to the Consumer dispute Relief Board in the Congra District of Dharamsala Province, and Apple was unable to provide sufficient proof that the customer deliberately tampered with iPhone.

The court finally found that the Apple side was at fault and ordered to replace the iPhone and pay the litigation costs of Rs15,000, as well as compensating the Pankaj for Rs10,000.
