It has been two years since the first China Biological Computing Conference in 2021. Over the past two years, AI technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, generative AI and big language models have swept many industries, and biological computing is the first to bear the brunt, a number of excellent start-up enterprises have emerged, and some international pharmaceutical companies have shouted the declaration of "All in AI", providing new momentum for the landing of the biological computing industry.

On September 3, 2023, the second China Biocomputing Conference, jointly sponsored by Baitusheng & Booko Innovation, kicked off again in Suzhou Industrial Park. The conference focused on the technological changes of IT&BT and rich examples of AI applications in the field of life sciences, and held a main forum and three professional sub-forums around the next step of biocomputing, with a total of more than 40 professional reports. Compared with "defining Biological Computing" at the first Congress in 2021, the topic of this conference has been significantly improved in breadth and depth, from AI design for large and small molecular drugs, to cutting-edge basic technologies such as AI models in life sciences, to the broad fields of AI in various cutting-edge drug design, target discovery, synthetic biology and artificial life. Industry partners are here to witness evolution and work together to find the answer to the next step of biological computing.

At present, the park spares no effort to promote the integrated development of industrial innovation clusters in the digital economy era, actively arranges the IT&BT industry, and speeds up the construction of an open and innovative world-class high-tech park. It is believed that with the help of the platform of the China Biological Computing Conference, it will certainly be able to speed up the research and development of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and biomedicine, and give birth to more original achievements and new business type, a new model.

How will the underlying technology of the large model be developed? What new changes will large model technology bring to the life science industry? At the main forum of the conference, Zhang Hongjiang, consultant of Zhiyuan Research Institute and foreign academician of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) of the United States, gave a report entitled "New Paradigm of Scientific Research driven by large Model."

He pointed out that AI and large models have very powerful capabilities in pharmaceutical processes, whether in target recognition, drug and targeting binding characteristics, or pharmacokinetics. With the help of AI, life science is also expected to achieve the ChatGPT moment of the integration of physics, data and knowledge, starting a new paradigm for the research of life science. The new paradigm of large model is expected to solve the design complexity of macromolecular drugs and create new possibilities to improve global health.

As a worldwide research pioneer and international leader in the field of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics, Dean and Professor of the School of computer Science and Control Engineering of Shenzhen University of Technology, Academician Pan Yi, chief scientist of Shenzhen Advanced Technology Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, brought the theme sharing entitled "artificial intelligence enabling biomedicine: drug screening and drug generation".

He points out that biologists need to explain that the interpretability generated from AI's rules effectively empowers molecules with high coupling from target candidates to design, from structure to sequence, from sequence to manufacture, and finally to synthesis of organisms, which is where AI can make a lot of progress. He also details how to design small drug molecules in a method similar to GPT. This work was published in mid-2022 and completed one year before the ChatGPT was announced. Academician Pan also believes that meta-universe and digital human based on AI can be used for new drug testing in the future, which will bring huge potential application space for clinical new drug trials.

Or it will bring less cost and more accurate results for the drug development of related diseases.
