Log Service SLS is an observable data storage and analysis platform developed and used by Alibaba Cloud. It provides one-stop collection, storage and analysis capabilities for Log, Trace and Metric. It can process tens of PB of data from tens of millions of clients every day. The SLS kernel is fully upgraded, bringing brand-new capabilities in multiple dimensions such as stability, performance and cost, providing secure, stable, low-cost and high-performance storage services for cloud users.

In terms of stability, availability is the core competitiveness of cloud storage. The same-city redundant high-availability storage launched by Alibaba Cloud provides users with the ability of disaster recovery service in the same city on the cloud. Even if a service terminal or disaster event causes a certain computer room to be unavailable, SLS can still provide strong consistent service for customers. And the SLA of the same city redundancy specification is increased to 99.95%, which has a higher availability guarantee than traditional local redundant storage.

For efficient processing of complex SQL, Alibaba Cloud's log service optimizes the whole link from storage layer to SQL parsing layer, improving query performance by up to 2 times, querying hundreds of billions of logs in seconds; improving analysis performance by up to 3 times, processing billions of logs in seconds; increasing concurrency by up to 20 times for single tenant, supporting larger and more complex queries. Log Services SLS will provide users with more efficient and solid data support for every decision.

In terms of ease of use and cost, Alibaba Cloud launched a new billing model for log service SLS in this release, making purchase simpler, cost predictable and cost more controllable. Compared with the original billing method, the price reduction of the full index scenario is as high as 32%, and users can enjoy free 30-day storage rights (subscription, processing, delivery, consumption, etc.). Under this billing model, SLS also offers savings plans, where users can promise to spend a certain amount of money over a certain period of time in exchange for lower pay-as-you-go discounts.

At the same time, on the basis of the original hot storage and low-frequency storage, the archive storage specification is added, which can reduce the cost of hot storage by 86%. Through intelligent storage layering, the lifecycle management is carried out without manual data migration and the configuration work is simple, helping users realize long-term storage cost optimization at the price of 0.05 yuan/ GB /month.

In addition, Alibaba Cloud Log Service also provides AIOps capabilities, which can realize intelligent fault prediction, notification and handling of system anomalies with the help of machine learning, big data and other technologies.
