CTOnews.com Sept. 6, Canonical today released the default wallpaper for the Ubuntu 23.10 release codenamed "Mantic Minotaur", and the stable version is scheduled to be officially released on October 12.

Ubuntu default wallpaper has been made mainly of geometric shapes, simple lines or concentric circles in the past 5 years, but since Ubuntu 23.10, it has been named after mythical creatures, so the elements of wallpaper have become more abundant. The wallpaper of Ubuntu 23.10 is in the shape of Tauren, but the interior has been changed to a maze design.

"Mantic" comes from the Greek words mantikos and mantis, related to divination or prophecy, and translates to the equivalent of "prophet". Among them Minotoros "Minotaur" is a famous half-man and half-ox monster in Greek mythology.

CTOnews.com Note: Ubuntu 23.10 is not a LTS version and the support cycle is only 9 months. For those who are more focused on stability, it's best to stick with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS until the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in April next year.
