Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens and soft media users for 1520111 clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Sept. 6, Microsoft recently updated its support documentation, announcing that it will start the process of phasing out the version of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in Win10, Win11 and Windows Server systems starting from September 1 this year.

Microsoft said that TLS 1.0 Win11 1.1 is no longer supported by default in the preview version of TLS released in September this year. CTOnews.com translates the content of Windows message center as follows:

Transport layer Security (TLS) is the most common Internet protocol used to set up encrypted communication channels between clients and servers. In the past few years, Internet standards and regulators have abandoned or disallowed TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 due to various security issues.

As a result, TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 will be disabled by default on future Windows systems starting in September. This change applies only to future new Windows operating systems, including client and server versions.

Released versions of Windows are not affected. Windows 11 Insider Preview versions starting in September 2023 will disable TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 by default. For users who need to maintain compatibility, you can choose to re-enable TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1.

This adjustment has little impact on Windows home users, and companies need to test on their own to detect and update or replace any affected applications.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Microsoft said that versions 1.0 and 1.1 of TLS date back to 1999 and 2006, respectively, so there have been a lot of vulnerabilities in the past few years.

Microsoft has added support for TLS 1.2since Win8 and added support for TLS 1.3in Win11 systems.
