CTOnews.com, September 6 (Xinhua)-- Apple introduced bright black and frosted black as early as the iPhone 7 series models, but due to problems such as paint dropping and scratches, Apple never launched a black version of the iPhone model.

According to the list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained a new technology patent outlining the anodizing process involving etching dyeing, which can form a unique matte black color match, which can be used in MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and other devices in the future.

Apple said in the patent that the anodizing process can dye the shell in different colors to enhance its appearance attractiveness to consumers, but some colors are more difficult to achieve.

Apple outlines a variety of process embodiments in the patent, and CTOnews.com describes one of them, in which color particles are injected into a hole of the anodizing layer during the formation of an anodized layer on a metal substrate, and light absorption characteristics are formed on the outer surface of the anodized layer by etching, so that L can achieve a color less than 10 in the CIE color gamut.

Apple figure 1 shows extreme matte black devices, including iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook and iPad;, while figures 3A to 3B show views of anodizing components prior to etching; figures 7A and 7B show exemplary images of anodizing components with light absorption characteristics.
