CTOnews.com, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) eight years ago, Amazon launched an official Kindle app for Apple's macOS platform, which allows Mac readers to download and read e-books on Apple devices.

According to foreign technology media goodereader, Amazon plans to stop supporting the Kindle app in October this year, and then launch a new Kindle app.

CTOnews.com queries the Kindle application page, which got version 1.40.2 update on Sept. 5, with the update log "this update includes some stability improvements and bug fixes."

The point is that after this update, the name of the Kindle Mac reading software has been changed to "Kindle Classic".

Media reports say the classic Kindle app is based on Java, while the new app will be based on React Native and is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
