Launch "carbon reduction Transport Service" to develop Green Logistics

Under the goal of carbon peak, carbon neutralization and "double carbon", green and low-carbon transformation is becoming the inevitable choice for enterprises to achieve sustainable development. According to Lenovo, the "carbon reduction service" is the latest product of Lenovo Solutions Services Business Group (SSG), which allows companies to choose to reduce carbon emissions when airlifting IT equipment. Through "carbon reduction transport services", customers can purchase "sustainable aviation fuel" (SAF) credits and attribute the resulting emission reduction benefits to the purchase of IT equipment, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by at least 70 per cent.

In the greenhouse Gas Agreement, various ranges for measuring carbon emissions are specified, ranging from 1 to 4, in which range 3, as indirect value chain emissions, is emissions that occur outside the scope of the company, accounting for 70% of the enterprise's average total emissions. including emissions related to product purchase and disposal. As a cleaner alternative to traditional aircraft fuel, SAF has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from air cargo and enable enterprises to meet range 3 emissions targets.

In addition, range 3 is difficult to measure, with less than 10 per cent of organizations able to measure accurately, but Lenovo's "carbon reduction transport service" provides customers with practical ways to reduce air emissions. Customers will receive a confirmation of emission reduction, which can be used to report according to their own scope 3 goals, thus ensuring greater transparency of the entire process.

Lenovo said corporate customers in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the Asia-Pacific region could choose to add "carbon reduction transport services" to the equipment they purchased.

It is not difficult to see that Lenovo Group's "carbon reduction transport service" mainly carries out green innovation in the logistics and transportation link. It is worth mentioning that logistics and transportation play a key role in emission reduction in scope 3. According to research and statistics of the World Economic Forum, logistics and transportation can account for 5.5% of the total global carbon emissions.

In view of this low-carbon action, Lenovo Group continues to explore green logistics innovation, driving the upstream and downstream of the supply chain to actively adopt sustainable fuel alternatives in air and sea transportation. In January this year, Lenovo partnered with Dexun Group, one of the world's largest freight companies, to create a logistics service pioneered by the technology industry. Through this service, customers can reduce carbon emissions in the transportation process through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and accelerate the achievement of the zero net goal.
