Article 28 of the new edition of the Code stipulates that academicians are prohibited from publicly expressing academic opinions that have nothing to do with their professional fields. It is forbidden to participate in consultation, evaluation, recommendation and other activities that have nothing to do with one's job responsibilities and professional fields. It is prohibited to violate the principles of fairness and confidentiality in recommending, judging, appraising and awarding activities.

Chapter II Code of Conduct for   Scientific Research activities

Article 8   establishes the value concept of science, takes exploring truth and discovering new knowledge as its mission, serving society and benefiting mankind as its goal, taking scientific spirit and scientific culture as its soul, and pursuing outstanding science.

Article 9   adheres to emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts and adhering to a serious, strict and rigorous scientific attitude. Oppose the academic impetuous and grandiose style, oppose all misconduct in scientific research.

Article 10   shall carry forward the spirit of scientific and technological cooperation and collectivism, respect the labor and rights and interests of partners and others, take the lead in strictly practicing academic norms, and strive to cultivate scientific research teams with both ability and political integrity.

Article 11   actively advocates the double-hundred policy of "letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend", promotes academic democracy, fully respects different opinions in the academic field, actively responds to academic questions, and has the courage to correct academic mistakes.

Article 12   strictly implements the relevant state regulations, abides by the requirements of integrity in scientific research, abides by the ethical norms of science and technology, and carries out responsible scientific research.

Article 13   focuses on the main business and plays an academic leading role. Serving academicians should persist in working in the front line of scientific research in their professional field, and generally spend no less than 2/3 of their time on scientific and technological innovation and R & D activities, and go to the grass-roots level and the front line to solve practical problems.

Article 14 the   shall seek truth from facts, strictly perform its contractual obligations for scientific research, and use scientific research funds rationally and lawfully.

Academicians who serve as responsible persons of party and government organs, administrative organs (units) with reference to the civil service law, and principal responsible persons of enterprises shall no longer apply for scientific research projects during their term of office.

Chapter V prohibited acts of  

Article 27   is prohibited from participating in activities that damage the reputation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and academicians. It is forbidden to seek illegitimate interests with the title of academician. It is forbidden to participate in activities outside the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, academic departments, academic groups and academic journals in the name of academicians. It is forbidden to participate in all kinds of responsive and remunerative activities. It is forbidden to participate in the establishment of non-academic venues with the name of "academician".

Article 29 the   prohibits all kinds of misconduct in the co-selection of academicians. It is prohibited to accept recommendations entrusted by any individual or unit without principles; to intercede and greet in the co-election of academicians; to prohibit improper exchanges and exchange of interests with candidates; to accept gifts of various names; it is forbidden to participate in meetings and activities that may affect the fairness of the co-election of academicians.

Article 30   forbids the exchange of matters related to co-opting with candidates in violation of regulations. It is forbidden to divulge Wechat, text messages, e-mails, letters and other complaint information or materials received by individuals related to the co-selection of academicians.

Article 31 the   shall not disclose to others in any way the discussion, evaluation, complaint, investigation and handling opinions, election results, etc., of the candidates in the selection process. It is forbidden to disclose any information about the whole co-opting process to the public without authorization.
