CTOnews.com Sept. 5, Canonical plans to release Ubuntu 23.10 in October, and officials recently announced that the daily build has enabled the GNOME 45 desktop environment and introduced new versions of applications, including Nautilus,Settings and Calendar.

The "Activities" label in the upper left corner of the GNOME 45 desktop environment has been replaced with the animation workspace indicator. Users can click to swipe to switch different workspaces. The GNOME 45 desktop environment should improve the Quick Setting menu. On compatible keyboards, the backlight of some keyboards can be controlled by the keyboard rather than the system.

The new version also optimizes the settings application, introduces a new "details" widget, and adjusts the location of clocks and calendars, and so on.

CTOnews.com Note: some new features such as magnifying glass and screenshots for applications in the GNOME 45 desktop environment do not appear in Ubuntu 23.10. Ubuntu 23.10 is scheduled to be officially released on October 12, 2023.
