Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, September 4 (Xinhua)-- recently, a buyer who bought an Intel Core i9-13900K processor in Amazon UK found that he had received a Core i7-13700K with a heat dissipation cover replaced. The buyer posted on Reddit that he bought the 24-core processor directly from Amazon for £585 (CTOnews.com Note: about 5359 yuan), which is close to the official suggested retail price, but he did not say whether Amazon or a third-party seller sold the product.

Core i9-13900K is currently one of the best game processors, so it has become the target of many swindlers selling fake goods online. Replacing the heat dissipation cover on a cheap chip and then replacing it with a high-end model and selling it at a high price is one of the most common methods used by swindlers. Other common frauds include putting fake labels on the cooling top cover, gluing the heat dissipation top cover to a blank circuit board, or using laser engraving to change the mark on the heat dissipation top cover.

Many consumers do not check the authenticity of the product when they buy the processor. In the case of the Reddit user, he bought the fake Core i9-13900K in April, but only now does he realize that he has been cheated. Depending on the purpose of his computer, he may not be aware of the performance difference between Core i9-13900K and Core i7-13700K. Sometimes swindlers are so clever that they need to be detected by software such as CPU-Z.

The official suggested retail prices of Core i9-13900K and Core i7-13700K are $599 and $419, respectively, and the swindler can only make a profit of $180 (currently about 1309 yuan) from the deal, which makes many netizens question the authenticity of the matter. It might be more reasonable to use Pentium or Core i3 chips to impersonate Core i9-13900K. Of course, there are other possibilities that caused the unfortunate buyer to receive a fake, such as a product returned to Amazon by a user who replaced the chip beforehand, or perhaps caused by an employee.
