On September 1, 2023, Samsung launched a 40% washing machine and EHS Mono R290 heat pump at IFA 2023, one of the largest home appliances and consumer electronics trade shows in Berlin, Germany, demonstrating Samsung's commitment to promoting an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

More and more consumers consider the environmental impact of the products they use, which has become one of the factors affecting home appliance purchase decisions. The launch of 40% of the AME washing machine and the EHS Mono R290 means that Samsung is trying to meet the needs of environmentally friendly consumers.

40% washing machine: improve energy efficiency

Some of Samsung's new washing machines to be launched next year will consume 40% less energy than class An energy efficiency standards. They use advanced technology that intelligently optimizes washing performance and reduces energy consumption, while providing a capacity of 10 kg and using Bespoke design. 40% of AME washing machines will be available in Europe in the first quarter of 2024.

The washing machine will support SmartThings connections and reduce energy consumption through AI Energy mode in SmartThings Energy. It allows users to view daily, weekly and monthly electricity consumption at any time and estimate monthly electricity bills. For programs that can be run in AI Energy mode, the washing machine uses bubble cleaning technology ™to replace warm water with cold water and extra cycles, intelligently saving up to 70% of energy consumption.

40% of AME washing machines have AI washing function, which optimizes washing performance through advanced laundry sensing ability to minimize energy waste. The AI washing function intelligently analyzes the weight, softness and dirt of the fabric, thus optimizing the amount of water and detergent, constantly adjusting the soaking, rinsing and dehydration time, and achieving the best washing effect quickly and efficiently.

In addition, the Super Speed program allows users to significantly reduce laundry time while thoroughly cleaning clothes. The entire laundry cycle can end within 39 minutes without causing any damage to machine performance. This function is achieved through the built-in Speed Spray, which allows the strong water to reach the clothes quickly, thus speeding up the washing and rinsing of clothes.

EHS MONO R290: stable heating and Energy Saving

As the latest heat pump from Samsung, EHS Mono R290 uses R290 as refrigerant, and its global warming potential (GWP) is much lower than that of other refrigerants.

EHS Mono R290 can continuously provide hot water up to 75 °C for household heating, which will replace traditional natural gas boiler heating as a more suitable heating choice for old residential space.

In addition, the EHS Mono R290 has an enlarged heat exchanger that can transfer more heat at a single time and its heat transfer area increases by 39% compared with traditional outdoor units. Therefore, it has stable heating performance and can release 100% heating performance even at conditions as low as 10 °C below zero.

Another function that can reduce energy consumption is AI Energy mode, which can adjust the temperature of domestic hot water (DHW) by learning users' usage patterns, while providing users with the same level of heat to avoid excessive energy consumption.
