CTOnews.com Sept. 3, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Goolman, Apple was close to releasing a new 14-inch iPad this year, but it didn't happen. The iPad will be the largest tablet in Apple's history.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple has been exploring the concept of a larger iPad since 2021, and even plans to launch a 14-inch model this year, but the product is no longer part of Apple's near-term product plans.

A complex issue is the transition from iPad to OLED displays, which could lead to a significant increase in the cost of larger tablet displays, Mr. Gurman said. According to previous rumors, the first batch of iPad Pro models to be released in the first half of 2024 will be up to 13 inches.

Several sources have revealed that Apple designers and engineers are working on an iPad with a larger screen, which could further blur the line between tablets and laptops.

CTOnews.com notes that since 2018, the largest iPad has been the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. This means that the largest iPad is still smaller than the smallest MacBook--M1 MacBook Air and M2 MacBook Pro (both with 13.3-inch displays). Since the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is close to the 13.3-inch MacBook and could grow to 13 inches next year, it seems only a matter of time before Apple offers a larger iPad.
