CTOnews.com Sept. 3, ChatGPT has attracted the attention of science and technology circles, mainstream media and professionals in various industries since it was launched at the end of last year. To answer these questions, SparkToro partnered with Datos to conduct a survey. Datos has a privacy-compliant clickstream data panel of 20 million devices (desktops and mobile devices covering more than 200 countries) that provides in-depth analysis of real users' behavior online.

The survey analyzed the use of ChatGPT, including the following aspects:

Is the use of ChatGPT increasing? According to OpenAI.com 's website traffic data, traffic to the site fell by 29.15% from May to July. This does not mean that interest in or use of artificial intelligence is decreasing for the following reasons:

Professional or regular users still maintain a high level or growth; it's just that there are fewer new users or users without specific tasks.

The use of a large number of users is related to school work, so educational users in the United States, Canada and other countries led to a decline in usage during the summer vacation.

What tasks do people mainly use ChatGPT to solve? SparkToro obtained more than 7000 requests from real users to ChatGPT from Datos and screened out the most relevant 4098. By using ChatGPT itself to classify these requests, the following results are obtained:

Programming is the most frequently used scenario, accounting for 29.14% of all questions and answers. This is also the clearest usage scenario, where ChatGPT is used to help write specific code, format code, find code errors, and so on.

Education is the second largest use scenario, which refers not only to primary or high school education, but also to personal knowledge or interest exploration and professional knowledge search for work purposes.

Content creation is the third largest usage scenario, some of which are personal and others professional.

Sales and marketing use cases overlap with content creation, but choose to separate them so that you can view conversations that can only be classified as helping sales and marketing professionals accomplish their tasks. for example, analyzing data, questions about which channels to promote products, advertising optimization tasks, and even information / promotion help are all in this dataset).

CTOnews.com notes that the project also analyzes the most common words in ChatGPT request sessions, with "Write", "Create" and "List" in the top three, as shown in the following figure:
