ONE 600

I have no shortage of Polaroid cameras, although not as outrageous as the collection of a wall, but more or less enough. Polaroid cameras are far more durable than we thought. I have a now camera I bought a few years ago. I conservatively estimated that I shot more than 300 boxes, and the motor is still gagging.

However, by chance, I bought a brand new ONE 600. it was the seller's stock that year, and the sealing stickers were still there.

The ONE 600s were the last generation of Polaroid paper-spitting cameras, launched in 2003-2004, when the series was released in the most popular era of CCD cameras, Polaroid quickly couldn't stand it and finally stopped producing all traditional primary imaging products in 2008.

In fact, Polaroid filed for bankruptcy as early as 2001, but the irony is that Polaroid sold 13 million cameras in 2000, reaching an all-time high. After the reorganization, Polaroid launched the ONE 600s, which uses a different design logic from the previous 600s.

Like many Polaroid cameras, the ONE600 series also has many kinds, and Polaroid released six ONE600 cameras in 2004.

Overall, the ONE 600 series cameras have four basic models, the ONE,classic,ultra and the PRO.

Let's first talk about what these four basic models have in common, and then talk about the differences.

They are all folding cameras, folding operations.

They are all pan-focus, no focus, and the lenses are 100mm / 12.9plastic lenses.

The shutter speed is all 1 beat 3-1 hand 200.

It's all an one-button operation.

Differences:

The recent focus distance of CLASSIC is 0.9m and has no other functions.

ULTRA has the function of anti-red eye and selfie with a focus distance of 0.6m.

PRO has a recent focus distance of 0.45m, red eye protection, selfie function, 1 light and dark exposure compensation, and tripod holes.

None of the above three machines can turn off the flash, but it can block the flash outside on a sunny day. (beginners try not to cover up, it is difficult to control)

ONE was launched in 2003, when it was not called ONE600, but ONE, so the design of this camera is also different from that launched in 2004.

In 2004, the operation of the camera is on the top, while the ONE is behind the fuselage, the ONE camera has a selfie function and can turn off the flash. However, turning off the flash actually puts a high demand on the exposure module, so it is not turned off later.

In theory, PRO should be the best to use, but I actually use it, PRO and ULTRA are actually similar, as long as be careful not to get too close.

In fact, after more than 20 years, the ONE600 series has at least no essential change in terms of performance compared with the previous 600 series. Although ONE600 uses a new metering module and a new flash, it can better ensure exposure.

When I use it, I find that the flash of the ONE600 is much more stable than that of the ITPYE. The flash of the ITPYE camera is very dependent on the background. If the background is dark, it is easy to die together, while if the background is bright, it will be white again, while the flash of ONE600 is much smarter and will not change much because of the background.

Compared with the past 600 series cameras, especially the 637 whales, the folding design of the ONE600 series makes it more portable and much smaller. Functionally, it is still the traditional Polaroid routine. The PRO can provide the nearest focus distance of 0.45m, but Polaroid was able to shoot at macro before.

ONE600 is more practical and convenient and more stable than the popular second and third generation 600s on the market, but many friends don't know this camera at all. Because the ONE has only been on sale for three years (but the number is amazing), and it is really not the 600th series, so it will not be introduced to the 600th series camera, and finally to the whale machine.

Here, I would like to remind you that the maximum flash distance of Polaroid flash in the room is 4.5m, so if you shoot the whole body with Polaroid indoors, you need to replenish the light, generally half-body is better. Also due to the recent distance restrictions, can not be too close, such as a close-up of the face, it will certainly be too much.

Therefore, in order to shoot a variety of Polaroid composition, in fact, it needs a lot of assistance, for example, I need to add a supplementary light when I shoot the whole body indoors.

If it is outdoors, try to avoid backlighting.

But in most cases, we just need to use this camera without a brain. At that time, many Polaroid cameras were sold with a crane like the one below, which is a very civilian product.

Even if you buy online now, you can occasionally find brand-new ones that are less than 1000 yuan. As for used ones, you can buy a lot of them with 300400 yuan.

Looking back at the failure of Polaroid in the final stage, I am afraid the reason is not clear in a few words. In the traditional image field, Polaroid and Kodak are both big companies, and their bankruptcy can only be said to be the trend of the times. In the wave of digitization, these enterprises with traditional business as the core are difficult to persist. Although their products are still attractive, the remaining capacity is difficult to support the originally huge enterprises.

In addition, there is another reason why Kodak does not have Polaroid: the problem of raw materials. EU countries promulgated a series of environmental protection laws at the beginning of the 21st century, which directly led to the difficulty of production and depletion of many raw materials of Polaroid, so Polaroid was out of supply in 2004. Now our TIP paper does not use the original Polaroid formula, at first the quality of TIP paper is very poor.
