CTOnews.com, September 2 (Xinhua)-- Delta Airlines has updated its active fleet's radio altimeter to address potential 5G C-band interference, Reuters reported.

Transport Minister Pete Buttigieg warned in June that airlines would restrict their operations in bad weather if they did not update their aircraft by July 1. By July 1, American Airlines had about 190 aircraft that had not yet been updated, including its entire Airbus A220 fleet.

CTOnews.com learned from foreign media that Delta Airlines said that all in-service aircraft have been updated, while several aircraft are out of service due to planned maintenance and will be equipped with radio altimeters that meet the 5G standard after resuming operations.

Last year, concerns that 5G services might interfere with aircraft altimeters, which provide data on aircraft altitude, which are critical for landing in bad weather, led to brief disruptions at some US airports. International airlines cancelled some flights.
