In terms of deposit types, bauxite is the main source of gallium. At present, 90% of the world's gallium is produced as a by-product of the aluminum industry. The content of associated gallium is different in different regions and different types of bauxite. There are generally 50 grams of gallium in each ton of raw ore. For example, Guizhou bauxite in China generally contains 122 to 127 grams of gallium per ton.

China is also a large country of germanium resources. "lead-zinc" germanium-bearing deposits are mainly distributed in the low-temperature metallogenic domain of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. "coal-type" germanium-bearing deposits are mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia and Yunnan, including Yimin Wushang, Inner Mongolia, Wulantuga, Inner Mongolia and Lincang, Yunnan.
