CTOnews.com September 1 Dell yesterday announced results for the fiscal second quarter of fiscal 2024 (ended August 4, 2023). Dell reported revenue of $22.9 billion in the fiscal second quarter, down 13% from a year earlier and up 10% month-on-month, according to figures released.

Dell's second-quarter operating profit was $1.165 billion, down 8% from a year earlier, while net income was $455 million. A 10% decline.

From the first half of fiscal year 2024, Dell's revenue was $43.856 billion (currently about 318.833 billion yuan), down 17% year-on-year; operating profit was $2.234 billion (currently about 16.241 billion yuan), down 21% year-on-year; net profit was $1.033 billion (currently about 7.51 billion yuan), down 31% year-on-year.

In terms of business units, infrastructure solutions group (ISG) revenue for the second quarter was $8.5 billion (currently about 61.795 billion yuan), down 11% from the same period last year and up 11% month-on-month. Client Solutions Group (CSG) revenue for the fiscal second quarter was $12.9 billion (currently about 93.783 billion yuan), down 16% from the same period last year and up 8% quarter-on-quarter.

Dell executives said the company expects revenue of $22.5 billion to $23.5 billion in the third quarter (currently about 163.575 billion yuan to 170.845 billion yuan); gross margin is expected to fall 150 basis points in the third quarter; EPS is expected to be $6.30 in fiscal 2024, up or down 20 cents.
