CTOnews.com, September 1 (Xinhua)-- German audio brand Sennheiser has launched its third and cheapest bar speaker, called Ambeo Soundbar Mini, which is priced at 6499 yuan and is now available on e-commerce platforms.

Ambeo Soundbar Mini retains many of the core specifications of Sennheiser's previous bar speakers and still supports a variety of 3D surround sound formats, such as Dolby Panorama Sound (Dolby Atmos), DTS:X, 360 Reality Audio and MPEG-H, can still be paired with up to four Sennheiser Ambeo Sub subwoofers, and still supports a full range of streaming features such as Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, built-in Chromecast and AirPlay 2.

But after all, the price is lower, and some configurations of Ambeo Soundbar Mini have been cut. First, Sennheiser says the Mini is less than half the size of Soundbar Plus and measures 70 x 10 x 6.5cm. This means fewer drive units (the Mini has only six drive units-four full-band and two bass, while the Plus has nine), and there are no full-frequency drive units that sound up to reflect sound from the ceiling. Instead, it relies purely on virtualization technology to achieve a high channel, and there are no speaker openings at the top of the speaker.

Although there is no dedicated upstream drive unit or the option of purchasing and pairing external rear surround speakers, Sennheiser claims that Ambeo Soundbar Mini can virtualize 7.1.4 channel audio.

Compared with Sennheiser's more expensive bar speakers, another reduction of the Ambeo Soundbar Mini is the physical interface. The Ambeo Soundbar Mini provides only one HDMI eARC port to connect to the TV, no fiber or auxiliary input, and no HDMI straight-through, which means that the bar speaker will occupy a HDMI port on the TV.

The national version of Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Mini bar speakers is now on sale, priced at 6499 yuan and $799 overseas (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 5809 yuan).
