The game also encountered a lot of bugs, when experienced on PC (high settings, using RTX 3080), there are a lot of model and texture errors, occasional crashes and performance degradation phenomenon.

GameSpot thinks the story is weaker and closer to "canned games":

The space adventure brought by Bethesda does have an impressive scale, with a rich arsenal of weapons and well-designed gunfights that give players thrilling battles and are well integrated into the mission. The occasional branch found in exploring the galaxy is also interesting.

The main story of the game is plain, and the writing and characterization are very weak. For all its reverence for philosophy of science, the future of spaceflight is a dull one.

As a role-playing game, Starry Sky lacks depth in RPG elements, and the map system is unsatisfactory. Overall, the game feels like it relies on a formula of past success and lacks all the depth of previous titles.

However, Microsoft has been quite optimistic about "Starry Sky" internally. In an interview with IGN during Cologne Game Show, Xbox head Spencer said that "Starry Sky" is a "particularly large game" and thought that the game started with some "slow heat." Within 3-4 hours, players need to figure out what they need to do first, and once they enter the rhythm state, players will be amazed by the epic scale of the game.
