CTOnews.com, August 31, according to the global passenger car tracking report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, pure electric vehicles (BEV) achieved remarkable results in Western Europe, North America and emerging markets in Asia in the second quarter of 2023, with sales up 50% year-on-year.

BEV sales in China also rebounded, rising 37 per cent year-on-year, lower than global growth. Chinese brand car companies still dominate, accounting for 56 per cent of global sales, and electric cars sold in China are mainly compact.

"BYD, GAC GROUP and Geely Holdings occupied three seats among the world's top five passenger pure electric car manufacturers in the second quarter, which are mainly sold in the domestic market," said Archie Zhang, a China research analyst.

CTOnews.com is attaching the information of the major automobile brands of pure electric cars in 2023 as follows:

Tesla's automobile market share was 20%, an increase of 4 percentage points compared with the same period last year, and sales increased by 83% compared with the same period last year.

BYD's market share was 15%, an increase of 3 percentage points over the same period last year, and sales increased by 96% compared with the same period last year.

The mass market share was 7%, a decrease of 1% compared with the same period last year, and sales increased by 48% compared with the same period last year.

Geely's market share was 6%, an increase of 2 percentage points over the same period last year, and sales increased by 111% compared with the same period last year.

GAC GROUP's market share was 6%, an increase of 2 percentage points over the same period last year, and sales increased by 137% compared with the same period last year.

Hyundai's market share is 5%, down 1 percentage point from the same period last year, and sales are up 24% from a year earlier.
