Indian authorities say the move is to stimulate the localization of production, and the latest news is that 32 companies have agreed to join the program.

Indian Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed in an interview that many companies, including HPE, Dell, Asustek, Acer and Lenovo, have begun to promote the localization of production, according to Reuters.

Vaishnaw said the program could attract up to $294 million in additional investment and create 75000 direct manufacturing jobs. He speculates that within six years of the implementation of the plan, the total sales of local enterprises will reach 40.5 billion US dollars (currently about 295.245 billion yuan).
