Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

This article shows you how to mount a separately created cloud disk to an ECS instance. The code is concise and easy to understand, which will definitely brighten your eyes. I hope you can get something through the detailed introduction of this article.

Mount the cloud disk

You can mount the separately created cloud disk (for data disk) to the ECS instance. You can mount a cloud disk from the instance management page, or you can mount a cloud disk from the cloud disk management page.

Matters needing attention

Before mounting the cloud disk, you need to know the following considerations:

The cloud disk created with the instance does not need to be mounted.

You can only mount a cloud disk used as a data disk, but you do not need to mount a cloud disk used as a system disk.

When mounting a cloud disk, the instance must meet the following conditions:

The instance status must be Running or stopped (Stopped), not locked (Locked).

The instance is not in arrears.

When mounting a cloud disk, the status of the cloud disk must be Available.

Cloud disks can only be mounted to instances in the same availability zone in the same region, not across availability zones.

An ECS instance can mount up to 16 cloud disks as data disks. At a time, a cloud disk can only be mounted to one instance.

Independently created cloud disks can be mounted to any instance in the same availability zone in the same region (including prepaid and postpaid instances).

prerequisite

You have created an ECS instance and a cloud disk in the same availability zone. For more information, please see step 2: create an ECS instance in step 2 of creating a cloud disk and personal version.

Mount the cloud disk on the instance management page

If you want to mount multiple cloud disks on an ECS instance, it is convenient to operate on the instance management page. Follow these steps to mount the cloud disk on the selected instance:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

In the left navigation bar, click the instance.

Select the region.

Locate the instance that needs to be mounted to the cloud disk, and click the instance ID.

In the left navigation bar, click the disk of this instance, and click Mount Cloud disk at the top right of the disk list.

In the pop-up dialog box, complete the following settings:

Destination disk: you can only select a cloud disk whose status is to be mounted in the same availability zone.

Disk is released with the instance: if selected, the cloud disk will be released at the same time when the instance is released.

Automatic snapshots are released with the disk: if selected, when the cloud disk is released, all automatic snapshots created by the cloud disk will be released together, but manual snapshots will not be released. It is recommended that you do not select this option and keep the backup data.

When you are finished setting up, click OK, and click perform Mount.

Refresh the disk list of this instance.

If the cloud disk is in use, the mount is successful.

Depending on the content of the cloud disk and the operating system of the ECS instance, you must perform different operations to make the cloud disk available. As shown in the table below.

Mount a cloud disk on the cloud disk management page

If you want to mount multiple cloud disks to different ECS instances, it is convenient to operate on the cloud disk management page. Follow these steps to mount the selected cloud disk to the instance:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

In the left navigation bar, select Storage > Cloud disk.

Select the region.

Locate the cloud disk to be mounted, and in the Operation column, select more > Mount.

In the pop-up dialog box, complete the following settings:

Target instance: only ECS instances in the same availability zone can be selected.

When you are finished setting up, click perform Mount.

Refresh the list of cloud disks.

If the cloud disk is in use, the mount is successful.

Depending on the content of the cloud disk and the operating system of the ECS instance, you must perform different operations to make the cloud disk available. As shown in the table below.

Subsequent operation

After using the cloud disk for a period of time, you can perform the following different operations according to your business needs:

You can restore the cloud disk to its original state by reinitializing the cloud disk.

If you need a cloud disk with larger capacity, you can expand its capacity. For more information, please see expand data disk _ Linux or expand data disk _ Windows.

You can back up the data of the cloud disk by creating a snapshot. Alternatively, set the automatic snapshot policy for the disk and create an automatic snapshot.

If you need to restore the cloud disk to its state at a certain time, you can use snapshots to roll back the cloud disk.

If you no longer need a cloud disk for your instance, to avoid unnecessary fees, you can uninstall the cloud disk and release it.
