CTOnews.com, August 31 (Xinhua)-- Mercedes-Benz today announced the US price of its upcoming eSprinter electric van and began to accept orders.

Mercedes-Benz will launch a 170inch long-wheelbase, high-top, 113kWh battery version of the eSprinter truck in the United States. The WLTP has a range of 400km and starts at $71886 (CTOnews.com Note: about 524000 yuan). It is the most high-end product in the emerging electric van market. Other competitors include Ford's E-Transit and Volkswagen's ID Buzz.

The car, which is currently manufactured at Mercedes-Benz plants in Charleston, South Carolina, and in Ludwigsfeld and Dusseldorf, Germany, has said it will sell only electric cars after 2030.

Like electric vans such as Ford's E-Transit and BrightDrop Zevo, Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is designed for distribution or other commercial purposes. But unlike these trucks, the eSprinter can also be used for non-commercial purposes.

For eSprinter, battery life is a big lead. In addition to having first-class range data, Mercedes-Benz also demonstrates the efficiency of its vehicles through its drive and kinetic energy recovery models-three for the former and five for the latter. Mercedes-Benz said:

A special advantage of the car is the automatic function (D Auto), in which the vehicle automatically determines the energy recovery rate according to traffic conditions. The radar sensor automatically adjusts the recovery intensity to ensure the best recovery effect. The ECO Assist on the dashboard shows the driver when to lift the pedal, and then the vehicle can automatically select the appropriate recovery intensity. Three drivers (eco, comfort, and max range) can further help drivers drive in a more efficient or comfortable manner.

In fact, Mercedes-Benz attaches great importance to the efficiency of electric cars. The company's Vision EQXX claims to be the most efficient electric car ever, capable of driving 1000 kilometers on a single charge. On its most recent record drive, the car consumed an average of 8.7kWh per 100km (7.1kWh per 62 miles).
