Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Wu Fei brother's left hand clue delivery! CTOnews.com Aug. 31-Bloomberg's Mark Gulman reports that Apple is using 3D printing technology to make parts of the case for the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9. This manufacturing process can save a lot of metal materials required for traditional CNC machining and shorten production time.

It is reported that Apple uses a technology called "adhesive jet" that can print the outline of a device close to the actual shape from a powdery substance. Then, the material is compressed into a texture similar to steel by hot pressing, and then refined by milling.

CTOnews.com notes that Gulman's revelations coincide with previous claims by Apple analyst Kuo Ming-chi. Guo Mingxi said in July that the upcoming second-generation Apple Watch Ultra will include 3D printed mechanical parts. He also said Apple is "actively adopting 3D printing technology" and that some titanium parts in the new Apple Watch Ultra will be 3D printed.

Gulman said Apple plans to use this new 3D printing method to make the stainless steel version of the Apple Watch Series 9 case, rather than the Ultra version of the part. Either way, it suggests Apple is testing this manufacturing method more aggressively in 2023. Gulman also said Apple plans to start 3D printing titanium devices in 2024.

If Apple can successfully use 3D printing technology to produce some devices, it can improve production efficiency and reduce costs. Guo Mingxi said that if Apple's production of Apple Watch in 2023 goes smoothly, 3D printing technology will be applied to more devices in the future.

According to Gulman, Apple and suppliers have been developing 3D printing technology for at least three years. Gulman also confirmed that if the Apple Watch test is successful, Apple will expand this process to more products in the next few years.
