CTOnews.com, August 30 (Xinhua)-- the nonprofit New York Society of Fungi (NYMS) recently warned that the e-commerce platform represented by Amazon is full of popular science books on mushroom foraging generated by AI, which contains many mistakes. If someone survives in the wild and eats mushrooms according to the knowledge of these AI books, it may seriously lead to death.

The agency said that popular science books generated by various AI are rampant on Amazon and other e-commerce platforms, which can mean "life or death" for beginners and users who are not familiar with the knowledge.

Sigrid Jakob, president of the New York Fungi Society, sent an open letter to several media, and CTOnews.com translated part of it as follows: "there are hundreds of poisonous mushrooms in North America, several of which are seriously fatal. These mushrooms are similar to mainstream edible mushrooms, but there are many misdescriptions in the books generated by AI, and some people eating them by mistake can have serious consequences."
