CTOnews.com, August 30 (Xinhua)-- OpenAI is expected to generate more than $1 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about 7.29 billion yuan) in the next 12 months by selling artificial intelligence software and powered computing power, The Information reported on Tuesday.

The ChatGPT developer had expected revenue of $200m this year.

OpenAI currently earns more than $80 million a month (currently about 583 million yuan), compared with $28 million for the whole of last year, the report said.

In addition to ChatGPT, OpenAI makes money by selling API access to its AI model directly to developers and businesses and by partnering with Microsoft, which invested more than $10 billion in the company in January.
