CTOnews.com August 30, Google announced today that it will launch artificial intelligence assistant Duet AI in all Workspace applications, including Gmail, Drive, Slides, Docs and so on. The company says Duet technology has been tested for some time and more than 1 million people have experienced the virtual assistant. Duet AI is now available to anyone who pays to use Google's Workspace app.

Google unveiled Duet AI artificial intelligence at the I / O developer conference earlier this year, which was officially described as a partner that can help in all Google applications. Users can ask Duet AI to convert the Google Docs outline into a presentation in Slides, or have it make charts based on the data in the spreadsheet. Duet AI can also be a creative tool that users can ask to write an email reply, generate an image, or check grammar. Also, you can use it to find things in Drive, summarize documents, and so on.

Duet AI is also a general term that covers many application-specific functions. Using Duet AI in Google Meet means artificial intelligence-based lighting and sound adjustment and automatic meeting summarization; using Duet AI in Chat means automatic summarization of long chat texts, so you don't have to spend too much time reading.

But none of these AI features will be cheap: Google will charge $30 per user to use Duet AI, at least for large organizations, and Google has not yet set a price for small teams. This is the same price Microsoft charges for its Copilot artificial intelligence system, which has similar features and can be used in most Office applications. This is a high price for a set of artificial intelligence tools that are still very new.

The challenge for these tools is that the underlying artificial intelligence model is not perfect, or even far from perfect, and that it is risky when dealing with critical business data.

If you are a Workspace user, Duet AI will appear in almost all the applications you use. In some places it is a separate menu that can be accessed by clicking the Duet AI icon in the upper right corner. Elsewhere, you can ask Duet AI for help directly from email or documentation.

These all-inclusive tools are at the heart of the future of the two office suites, and both companies believe that artificial intelligence has the potential to change the way we work.
