Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com August 29 news, according to DigiTimes latest report: TSMC is unlikely to see a significant increase in 3nm chip orders until 2024.

Apple will contract all of TSMC's 3nm capacity this year for upcoming iPhones, Macs and iPads due to Intel's delay, sources said.

On the iPhone 6S, Apple tried to divide the manufacturing of A-series chips between TSMC and Samsung. Later, TSMC won all orders for A10 Fusion in Apple iPhone 7 through more advanced technology, and became the only contract manufacturer of A-series chips since then.

Of course, the same is true for Apple Silicon, which is used in Macs and iPads, and TSMC currently controls all of Apple's chip-making operations.

In fact, as early as May this year, there was news that Apple had booked nearly 90% of TSMC's capacity for its next-generation devices, but since Intel later revised its CPU production plan, it also meant that Apple won 100% of TSMC's capacity in 2023.

The industry believes Intel's order delay means TSMC's sales of 3nm chips will drop sharply this year, and the industry source said TSMC is still expected to achieve significant growth in the fourth quarter because it has started mass production of 3nm chips to meet Apple's demand.

Data show that TSMC's fourth-quarter 3nm chip production may decrease from the previously expected 80,000 - 100,000 (wafers) per month to 50,000 - 60,000. According to the source, TSMC's 3nm process currently produces only about 65000 pieces per month.

Based on the previous A17 Bionic processor (iPhone 15 Pro) exposure scores, the A17 will continue to use a 6-core CPU similar to the A16, and Geekbench 6 results show that the clock speed of both performance cores is the same, at 3.70GHz.

The results showed that the A17 scored 3269 points on the benchmark test, a 31% improvement over the A16. In the multi-core test, the gap is not as great, with the A17 scoring 24 percent better than the A16, but still outstanding.

The Geekbench 6 image also shows a Metal score, which tested the GPU of the upcoming SoC, scoring 30,669 points.

These results make people look forward to the upcoming iPhone 15 series, but CTOnews.com needs to point out that these results have the possibility of modification or forgery, so we still have to maintain a certain skepticism before Apple officially releases the iPhone 15 series.
