According to CTOnews.com news on August 29, Xiaomi Group released its second-quarter and semi-annual reports this evening. Second-quarter revenue was 67.35 billion yuan, down 4.0% from a year earlier, while second-quarter adjusted net profit was 5.14 billion yuan, up 147.0% from a year earlier.

The total income of Xiaomi Group in the first half of the year was 126.83 billion yuan, down 11.6% from the same period last year, while the adjusted net profit in the first half was 8.37 billion yuan, up 69.5% from the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned from the financial report that Xiaomi Group's smartphone segment revenue fell 13.4% from 42.3 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2022 to 36.6 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2023, mainly due to a decrease in smartphone shipments, partly offset by an increase in the average selling price of smartphones.

In June 2023, the number of global MIUI monthly active users reached 606 million, an increase of 10.8 per cent over the same period last year. As of June 30, 2023, the number of IoT devices (excluding smartphones, tablets and laptops) connected to Xiaomi's AIoT platform increased to 654.5 million, an increase of 24.2 per cent year-on-year.

In the second quarter of 2023, Xiaomi Group's advertising revenue was 5.1 billion yuan, an increase of 13.0% over the same period last year and an all-time high. With the deepening of the fine operation of the advertising business and the growth of the number of high-end smartphone users, domestic and overseas effects and brand advertising revenue reached an all-time high this quarter.

Xiaomi Group's smart home appliances maintained a strong momentum of development, with revenue growing by more than 70% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year, mainly due to a sharp increase in Chinese mainland shipments of smart air conditioners, a record high in a single quarter.

Revenue from smart TVs and laptops fell 10.1 per cent from 5.3 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2022 to 4.7 billion yuan in the second quarter of 2023, mainly due to a decline in revenue from smart TVs and laptops in the overseas market, partly offset by an increase in shipments of Chinese mainland smart TVs.

In the second quarter of 2023, Xiaomi Group's R & D expenditure reached 4.6 billion yuan, an increase of 21.0% over the same period last year. Xiaomi Group plans to spend more than 100 billion yuan on R & D in five years (2022-2026). As of June 30, 2023, Xiaomi Group had 16834 R & D personnel, accounting for nearly 52 per cent of the total number of employees.
