CTOnews.com, August 29 (Xinhua)-- Samsung Electronics announced today that it is working with HCA members, including LG Electronics and Vestel, to provide consumers with the ability to use an App to control multi-party smart appliances, the first of its kind in the industry.

According to HCA's interface specification 1.0, this will enable cloud-to-cloud (C2C) interoperability between some household appliances and HVAC systems. Starting from the fourth quarter of 2023, the feature will first be available in eight countries, including the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Turkey, and will later be extended to other regions.

CTOnews.com Note: the Home connection Alliance (HCA) was launched by appliance manufacturers in 2022 to promote innovation and provide consumers with safe, interoperable appliances in networked homes. HCA currently includes 15 global brands and member companies, covering AEG, American Standard HVAC, Ar ç elik, Beko, The Electrolux Group, Frigidaire, Haier, Leader Commander, GE Appliances, Grundig, LG Electronics, Resideo Technologies, Samsung, Trane Residential and Vestel.

According to reports, Samsung Electronics is a founding member of HCA and serves as chairman of the board of HCA. HCA is an organization dedicated to developing and promoting compatibility and energy management of household appliances, HVAC3 systems and televisions in connected home ecosystems. The alliance recently announced that its members will begin to implement interface specification 1.0.

Samsung Electronics said the move marks the first time Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will support the use of each other's App to control their respective devices, a move that improves the ease of use of consumers and shows the potential for cross-cooperation in the future. In addition, interface specification 2.0, expected to be launched in 2024, will add energy management capabilities and include additional product lines, such as electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
