CTOnews.com, August 29, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, after two consecutive quarters of declines in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, global smartwatch shipments increased by 11% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year.

The report said shipments in the Indian market rose 70% year-on-year in the quarter and were the main force behind the rebound in the global market. The Chinese market as a whole is tepid, but Huawei launched a series of new flagship products such as the Watch 4, which allowed its shipments to rise 58% in the second quarter from a year earlier, the highest in a single quarter since 2020.

Apple: below 8 million for the first time in three years, shipments fell 10 per cent in the quarter. As a result, Apple's market share fell to 22% from 27% in the second quarter of 2022.

Huawei: Huawei's shipments in china's domestic market grew 58% in the second quarter, accounting for 39%, ranking second in the global smartwatch market share rankings. Another significant change is that Huawei accounts for 52 per cent of domestic smartwatches worth more than $500, compared with Huawei's absence in the same period last year.

Samsung: 19% year-on-year decline in the second quarter of 2023. The brand managed to increase shipments in the Chinese and Indian markets. Samsung's performance in two key markets, North America and Europe, fell 24 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively, from a year earlier.
