In terms of the 5G standard, it revised the 5G core network, base stations and terminal equipment standards for 5G enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), highly reliable low-delay communications (uRLLC), and high-speed Dalian Internet of things. Develop 5G evolution (5G-A) technical standards for vertical industry, such as non-terrestrial network, new passive connection of things, communication and perception integration. Develop 5G application and safety standards for industrial, medical, electric power, mining and other key industries.

5G standardization itself is also a process of continuous progress. Li Yan, vice president of technical standards of Qualcomm, introduced at a recent media communication conference that 5G standard established the basic framework in Release 15 version, added industry applications in Release 16, and began deep expansion of various industries at 17:00 in Release, such as car networking, satellites, and network enhancements. Li Yan said, for example, that LAA (Licensing Auxiliary access) is an idea put forward by Qualcomm based on the needs of operators to meet the growing bandwidth demand through license-free spectrum. To this end, Qualcomm helped the industry understand and convince the industry of the importance and feasibility of the project by holding various forums, lectures and workshops, and conducted trials at MWC (World Mobile Communications Congress), including Wi-Fi coexistence demonstration, LAA demonstration, enhanced LAA demonstration, etc., while also working with operators to conduct experiments, and finally implemented on the product. This technology has also been proved to be successful and has been incorporated into the LTE standard Release 13. In the 5G era, the technology has been further evolved and renamed 5G NR-U, which can not only increase 5G bandwidth by using license-free spectrum on the basis of LTE LAA, but also achieve independent deployment without any licensed spectrum, thus benefiting a wider range of industrial ecological partners such as telecom operators and 5G enterprise private network operators. Li Yan said that this also reflects Qualcomm's influence and leadership on the industry: Qualcomm can not only raise new problems, but also lead people to overcome difficulties, solve problems and make them a standard and an industry. While actively promoting 5G standardization, Qualcomm also cooperates deeply with industrial partners to promote the expansion of 5G applications to many industries. For example, in 2021, Qualcomm joined hands with Wuxi Health Statistics Center, Wuxi first Aid Center and Wuxi Mobile to build a 5G intelligent first aid system. By configuring the 5G intelligent network device equipped with Snapdragon X55 on the new ambulance, the patient's vital signs, vehicle OBD and on-site audio and video data can be transmitted directly to the data center through the 5G first aid special network, and the treatment hospital can obtain information in real time. Make a rescue plan in advance. According to the statistics of medical experts, the 5G intelligent first aid system can save more than 15 minutes of golden treatment time for patients with chest pain. In terms of industrial Internet, Qualcomm cooperated with China Industrial Internet Research Institute, Kone Elevator, China Telecom, Mobile Communications, etc., to upgrade the 5G enabling intelligent manufacturing industry for Kone Elevator Suzhou Factory, realize the production management application based on 5G industrial Internet platform, and promote the digital transformation and upgrading of 5G enabling manufacturing industry. Li Yan said that these projects have received very good feedback and believe that more can be done in the future.

In the 5G era, 3GPP ushered in more member enterprises, including automobile manufacturers, satellite manufacturers, broadcasters and so on, forming a more complete ecology and making their own contributions to the formulation and evolution of 5G standards. Li Yan believes that the influence of evaluation criteria should not only look at the number of patents obtained, or how many patents have been included in the standards, but also pay more attention to which technologies and functions have been really applied by the industry. what specific contributions have been made to the industry?
