Microsoft quietly removed the $1 trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from its Xbox Game Pass site, probably in response to the release of Starry Sky, perhaps Microsoft's most anticipated first-party game in years.

Microsoft has been wavering about the $1 trial offer over the past few months, and in March it cancelled the offer altogether, which previously allowed users to use it for 30 days at a price of $1. Then in July, after raising the prices of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Microsoft re-launched a $1 trial offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, which is still 30 days. But in August, Microsoft shortened the $1 trial period to 14 days, and now Microsoft has again cancelled the $1 trial offer before Star logs into Game Pass on Sept. 5.

That said, users can use PC Game Pass for $9.99 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 73 yuan) or use Xbox Series S and X-console Game Pass for a month to play Star Sky for $16.99 (currently about 124 yuan), which is certainly much cheaper than an one-time payment of $69.99 (currently about 510 yuan) for games. This should lead to a surge in the total number of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, which may also be why Microsoft canceled the $1 trial offer again.
