According to CTOnews.com news on August 26, SMIC released its half-yearly report in 2023, with revenue of about 21.318 billion yuan, down 13.3 percent from the same period last year; net assets belonging to shareholders of listed companies were about 2.997 billion yuan, down 52.1 percent from the same period last year; gross profit was 4.783 billion yuan, down 51.7 percent from the same period last year; and basic earnings per share was 0.38 yuan, down 51.9 percent from the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that during the reporting period, the group achieved main business income of 2.1 billion yuan, a decrease of 13.6% compared with the same period last year. Among them, the revenue of wafer foundry business was 1.919 billion yuan, down 15.4% from the same period last year. As of June 30, 2023, the Group has received a total of 13124 authorized patents, including 11329 invention patents. In addition, SMIC also owns 94 layout-design rights for integrated circuits.

The change in operating income was mainly due to the decrease in the number of sales wafers and changes in product mix in the current period, which decreased from 372.7 million in the same period last year to 265.5 million equivalent to approximately 8-inch wafers in the current period.

The change in gross profit is mainly due to the decrease in the number of wafers sold in the current period, the change in product mix and the decrease in capacity utilization.
