Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

When it comes to games, everyone's preferences may be different, but when it comes to preventing minors from being addicted to games, people must think of Tencent Games. In the two years since the landing of "the most stringent New rules against indulgence in History", China's game industry as a whole has built up the most advanced and efficient anti-addiction system in the world. While actively responding to the policy, game manufacturers are also spontaneously building the ecology of underage protection, of which Tencent Games is the forerunner and leader.

Tencent Games is the first game manufacturer of health online solution for minors in China. Since 2017, Tencent Games has taken the lead in building a "beforehand-in-the-event-afterwards" protection system covering minors' game behavior.

After the introduction of the new rules, Tencent Games carried out strict implementation at the first time. Tencent Games's game products operated in Chinese mainland region have been connected to the national unified real name verification system. All accounts verified as minors by the system will be subject to strict "time limit, play limit, charge limit" restrictions.

In order to protect the effect of preventing addiction, Tencent Games took the initiative to adopt a more stringent identification method than the industry regulations. In order to solve the problem of minors using parents' accounts to circumvent the restrictions of anti-addiction, Tencent Games adopted financial-level face recognition technology and AI machine learning to strengthen the technical screening of suspected underage accounts.

There are media in June 1 International Children's Day did 20 mobile game addiction evaluation, the report shows that Tencent's two games scored in the top two.

The data are more intuitive. On May 17, Tencent released its financial results for the first quarter of 2023, which showed that in the local game business, minors accounted for only 0.4% and 0.7% of the game duration and running water, both of which were the lowest on record and significantly decreased by 96% and 90% compared with the same period in 2020.

Combined with the content of past financial reports, it can be found that since the new rules of 830, Tencent disclosed in the financial statements of domestic minors in the local market game time, the proportion of running water have decreased significantly. Among them, the proportion of minors' playing time dropped sharply to 0.7% in September 2021, and has remained within 1% ever since.

On this basis, Tencent Games is also thinking about how to break the "ceiling" and create a more constructive protection plan for minors. In the process of promoting the protection of minors, Tencent Games realized that even if they were caught up in the game, the confusion in the children's heart had not been really faced squarely and released.

As a result, when upgrading anti-addiction system and family service plans at the same time, Tencent began to explore a third way, that is, to shift children's interest-if children's lives are not just about climbing over high walls, that may mean that children do not need too many restrictions to find a more interesting world after play.

At the beginning of the decision to make this attempt, members of the project team visited many villages and found that not only in rural primary schools, but also in the entire village, there was not a suitable place for children's activities, and parents were invisible in it. often appears as an image of brushing short videos and playing games. But children obviously have a need for all kinds of public space and entertainment facilities, which is not only for play, but also for companionship and social interaction.

Under the guidance of this train of thought, the Tencent minor protection project has entered stage 4.0, changing from simple "blocking" to "sparse" through ways. In September 2021, Tencent growth Guardian and Tencent Games jointly launched the "intellectual body two hundred" plan to build future playgrounds and future classrooms in some underdeveloped small towns and villages, so as to increase children's extracurricular richness. So that they can explore more interests and more possibilities.

As of May 2023, the "Intelligent body two hundred" project has landed a total of 68 future classrooms and sports fields, covering 17 provinces and regions across the country, with a total of more than 50,000 classes, with nearly 2 million teachers and students participating.

But the level of Tencent does not represent the level of the whole industry. After all, in terms of anti-addiction, Tencent has always been the best one in the industry, whether in the diversity of technical means, the concept and landing of the combination of blocking and thinning, or the depth and comprehensiveness of back-end services.

But with the regulatory and game platform level, are increasingly in place, the implementation is strong. As the "gatekeeper" of the game against addiction, the responsibility of parents is even more important.

Yu Zhiyun, lawyer of Beijing Cube (Shenzhen) Law firm, senior adviser to Shenzhen Law Association Education and uninsured Committee, and legal director of Shenzhen Futian District Juvenile Protection Service Center stressed that being addicted to games is just a problem for children to use the Internet, and children encounter a lot of problems when using the Internet. These problems may come from improper family guardianship, or the lack of family guardianship. This is true in real life, and many parents have a headache at the thought of spending more time and energy on their children during the holidays, especially during the winter and summer holidays. As soon as the child began school, it was much easier, shouting that the immortals and wild beasts had returned to their cage.

Tang Hong, vice president of the Beijing Family Education Research Association, believes that if children are not satisfied in real life, he will seek such satisfaction on the Internet, and if children do not get guidance, they will be very likely to indulge in the Internet.

The children hidden in the game lift their heads from the small mobile phone screen and gradually allocate their attention to explore a wider world and touch the opportunities that may lead to growth and life change. Isn't this the greatest expectation of all sectors of society for children? It is also hoped that all aspects of juvenile protection work can perform their respective duties and work together to prop up a healthy and happy childhood for children.
