CTOnews.com August 26, ROG has released the MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO flagship motherboard, featuring a new generation of WiFi 7 technology and a new Asustek detachable antenna design. Officials say the new antenna plug and play will enhance wireless performance while optimizing the WiFi antenna installation experience.

According to reports, ROG Maximus and ROG Strix Z790 motherboards will become the first WiFi 7 motherboards. Among them, the ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero will provide connection speeds up to 5.8Gbps.

The detachable antenna uses a new hardware design, including PCB circuit optimization and a new enhanced pin connector, which greatly improves the signal transmission in the 5GHz and 6GHz bands. Officials say that because it is a directional antenna, ROG also provides users with a convenient tool in the Armory Crate application to improve signal quality and range by repositioning it. The direction finder only needs a few steps to detect the signal strength and determine the ideal position of the antenna.

As previously reported by IT House, Asustek ROG has now released three Z790 motherboards pictured above. The flagship ROG Maximus Z790 DARK HERO is equipped with a 20x 1-phase power solution with one PCIe 5.0M.2 slot and four PCIe 4.0M.2 slots with a dual lightning 4 USB Type-C interface. The Wi-Fi 7 network cards of this series of motherboards are Intel Gale Peak 2 "BE200" and Killer 1750X, with Bluetooth 5.4 support.

ROG's new Z790 motherboard is expected to be launched next month with Intel Core 14 desktop processors.
