Hugging Face has previously released the Llama large language model, which can be used by most companies for free. AI developers can share code, models, and datasets, and the development tools make the open source AI model easier to run.

Mr Delange says one of the reasons big companies are investing is that their employees are actively using the platform. He predicts that the number of software developers using the AI model will increase in the next few years. "maybe in five years you will have about 100m AI builders.
