Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Since this summer, many countries and regions around the world have experienced extreme weather. In March, it rained in eastern Antarctica and the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius higher than normal. The real-time monitoring system of the ice sheet of the key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Sun Yat-sen University found that the melting area of the Greenland ice sheet, the largest ice body in the northern hemisphere, has increased rapidly since May 31. A new study in the journal Nature Communications also shows that Arctic sea ice could disappear completely as early as the 2030s. To investigate the reason, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions are undoubtedly leading to global warming is one of the "main culprits". Despite a large number of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, carbon dioxide levels are still rising at a rate of 2.5% a year, followed by heavy precipitation, torrential rains, floods, high-temperature heat waves and other disasters. Almost everyone can feel intuitively: 2023 is the hottest year on record! In this context, low-carbon emission reduction has become the common goal of all countries in the world. In order to reduce carbon emissions and protect the ecological environment on which human beings depend, in September 2020, China put forward the goal of "reaching the peak of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and striving to achieve carbon neutralization by 2060".

As an important part of household consumption, the low-carbon development of household appliances industry has an important impact on the realization of carbon peak and carbon neutralization in China as a whole. Since the implementation of the "double carbon" strategy, from manufacturers to channels are speeding up the green transformation in order to promote the green development of the industry. Recently, the Beijing Green Exchange released the JD.com Evaluation report on carbon Emission reduction of Household Appliances (2023 Edition). Aiming at all kinds of household electrical appliances in the trade-in business, according to the carbon emission reduction accounting methods such as national voluntary emission reduction project methodology, and based on the emission reduction principle of recycled materials instead of native materials, a model for calculating carbon emission reduction of goods recovery is constructed. The carbon emission reduction caused by the trade-in business during the monitoring period is calculated. Among them, JD.com produced about 154900 tons of carbon emission reduction during the period from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 through trade-in refrigerators, washing machines and other eight types of household appliances.

JD.com improves the upstream and downstream recycling ecological chain of the home appliance industry and saves 60,000 tons of coal consumption in one year.

As an important part of household consumption, the low-carbon development of household appliances industry has an important impact on the realization of carbon peak and carbon neutralization in China as a whole. The National Development and Reform Commission and other three departments recently issued a notice on organizing the second batch of household appliance production enterprises to carry out the action of recycling target responsibility system. The circular pointed out that on the basis of the recovery target responsibility action of the first batch of household appliance production enterprises, more household appliance production enterprises are encouraged to actively expand recycling channels, innovate recycling methods, optimize storage facilities, smooth the transport network, strengthen flow management, improve processing capacity and resource recycling. Encourage e-commerce platform enterprises to actively cooperate with household appliance production enterprises, strengthen information sharing, jointly build recycling networks, strengthen the control of the flow of recycled products, deeply participate in the construction of recycling system of waste household appliances, and promote the renewal and consumption of household appliances and green development.

Since the implementation of the "double carbon" strategy, JD.com 's home appliances have accelerated the green transformation, recycling old products with trade-in services, improving the reuse efficiency of old home appliances, and improving the recycling ecological chain in the upper and lower reaches of the home appliance industry. to a great extent, it not only helps consumers to effectively avoid the safety risks of old household appliances, but also helps users reduce the cost of updating equipment and stimulate users' desire for renewal. This practice makes "old things" no longer regarded as waste, effectively reducing the carbon emissions of household appliances.

According to the report, between July 2022 and June 2023, JD.com through eight categories of household appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, flat screen televisions, electric water heaters, gas water heaters, smoking machines and electric fans, the cumulative reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to saving 60,000 tons of coal consumption or planting 20 million more trees for the earth, and if these 20 million trees are planted, it will take about 200 square kilometers. Equivalent to 28000 standard football fields.

JD.com continues to upgrade with trade-in service to simplify the service process, save money and save worry.

The trade-in service has properly disposed of people's idle waste household appliances, promoted the development of circular economy, promoted the upgrading of industrial structure, and brought new vitality to the home appliance industry. As early as 2016, JD.com launched the "trade-in" service for home appliances, and successively launched more than 100 subcategories, including large and small household appliances. During the JD.com Spring Home Decoration Festival in March this year, JD.com 's home appliances also opened up commodity categories and launched trade-in services for mattresses, toilets and other household items, and through subsidies with plummeting prices, as well as "trade-in exclusive subsidies" benefits for different categories, so that users' replacement costs fall again and again. At the same time, JD.com also joined hands with mainstream household appliance brands to launch a green trade-in alliance to accelerate the promotion and popularization of trade-in, promote the transformation of consumers' green lifestyle, and form a moderate consumption concept. Up to now, the trade-in service of JD.com home appliances has covered more than 95% of the cities / towns and other areas in the country.

Not only that, JD.com 's home appliances also continuously upgrade service standards for trade-in services in view of the pain points in the process of exchanging old goods, such as different evaluation standards for door-to-door recycling, arbitrary collection of various fees, and painstaking transportation of large old items, so that users will no longer have to worry about trading old for new. For example, JD.com household appliances insist on free door-to-door, free demolition, free handling, and no matter what channel consumers buy old household appliances, regardless of brand, channel, age, or appearance, they can be renewed in JD.com. At the same time, for products such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, mattresses and toilets, JD.com 's home appliances also provide integrated services for delivery, installation, demolition and cleaning, reducing the service process that used to require multiple home visits to only 1-2 times, greatly improving the service experience.

Wang Naixiang, Chairman of Beijing Green Exchange

"to achieve the goal of 'double carbon' requires the joint efforts of the whole society." Wang Naixiang, chairman of the Beijing Green Exchange, said that the Beijing Green Exchange has always advocated the concept of green and low-carbon life, while reducing carbon emissions and improving the ecological environment can not be achieved overnight, but requires long-term investment and unremitting efforts.

JD.com household appliances always practice green and low-carbon social responsibility. Through the trade-in service of leading industries, it can effectively reduce the safety risks and environmental pollution caused by the dismantling of waste household appliances, and is conducive to the construction of a green and low-carbon circular development economic system. It can also stimulate consumption potential and promote the proportion of trade-in consumption to increase year by year.
