Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Santa Clara, California, August 24, 2023-AMD (Nasdaq: AMD) today released its annual corporate responsibility report detailing the company's progress in environmental sustainability, digital impact, supply chain responsibility, and diversity, sense of belonging and inclusiveness. AMD has released its corporate responsibility programs and plans for 28 years in a row, and this year's report includes for the first time environmental and social data on recent acquisitions.

Susan Moore, global vice president of corporate responsibility and international government affairs at AMD and president of the AMD Foundation, said, "at AMD, corporate responsibility is an integral part of our corporate strategy, culture and building relationships with customers and partners. Together with our employees, partners and customers, we are committed to responsibly designing and delivering high-performance and adaptive computing solutions to create a more interconnected, sustainable and inclusive world. "

AMD conducted a new environmental, social and governance (ESG) importance assessment in 2023 to identify our most important issues in terms of corporate responsibility based on the principle of "dual importance", namely, the potential impact on business, and the potential impact of business on society and the environment. The assessment reaffirmed existing focus areas, including issues such as product energy efficiency, diversity, sense of belonging and inclusiveness, responsible procurement, and supply chain human rights. Responsible artificial intelligence (AI) and product applications have become new issues, which will have a significant impact on AMD and society. Artificial intelligence is a huge opportunity, but also accompanied by unique challenges, AMD is committed to working with the industry to reduce risk, innovation and rational deployment of artificial intelligence.

Highlights of this year's report include:

Accelerated sustainable computing: semiconductors play an important role in the global response to the climate crisis, providing impetus for key research and helping to launch more energy-efficient devices. With the acceleration of computing-intensive workloads such as artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC), processor energy consumption becomes more and more important. AMD prioritizes innovative products that improve both performance and environmental sustainability, with the goal of increasing the energy efficiency of processors and accelerators for AI training and HPC by 30 times by 2025. In 2023, AMD is advancing this goal as planned, with four AMD Instinct APU configurations launched later this year, which can achieve the phased target of 13.5 times higher than the 2020 base year.

Addressing greenhouse gas emissions: AMD is also committed to addressing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its operations and working with direct manufacturing suppliers and customers. Compared with 2020, greenhouse gas emissions from AMD ranges 1 and 2 will be reduced by 19% in 2022. In line with AMD targets, 70 per cent of AMD direct manufacturing suppliers set public greenhouse gas emissions targets in 2022, and 68 per cent of suppliers purchased renewable energy. AMD was once again rated as the CDP "supplier engagement leader" for its goals and governance actions in tackling climate change, and ranked in the top 8 per cent of respondents.

Cross-value chain cooperation: as a founding member of the Semiconductor Climate Alliance and a member of the RBA Senior Environmental Advisory working Group, AMD works with suppliers, partners and peers to address environmental sustainability and human rights issues in the semiconductor value chain.

Promote inclusiveness and STEM education: AMD hopes to take action to lead the fabless semiconductor industry to promote inclusiveness and to help underrepresented talent, such as women, continue to develop in engineer positions. Importantly, the retention rate of female engineers in the company is very high, with 92 per cent of global employees saying that AMD creates an environment in which people from all backgrounds can succeed. AMD is also keen to train the next generation of innovators and continues to invest in STEM education through partnerships with universities, Kmur12 educators and non-profit organizations.

AMD prepared the Corporate responsibility report 2022-23 in accordance with the Global reporting Initiative (GRI) Standard (2021). In addition, the report includes climate-related disclosures recommended by the Climate-related Financial Information Disclosure working Group (TCFD), as well as relevant disclosures applicable to the Sustainable Development Accounting Standards Board Foundation (SASB) standards.
