CTOnews.com, August 25 (Xinhua)-- Just Security, an institution under the New York University School of Law, recently posted a blog post saying that the UK is proposing to amend the investigation Powers Act 2016 (IPA). One of the requirements is that equipment manufacturers need to notify the UK before issuing major safety updates.

The media cited iPhone users in the UK as an example, saying that if Apple discovers a serious security breach and needs to issue a security update to fix it, it must report to the government agency.

Under the revised law, the British government has the right to require Apple to abandon fixing the security loophole for regulatory or other purposes after receiving the report.

The agency believes that the revised rules in the UK violate the International Human Rights Law (IHRL) and interfere with the privacy and security of online users at home and abroad.
