CTOnews.com, August 24, the popular AI text-to-speech company ElevenLabs recently announced the expansion of its platform with the launch of a new text-to-speech model "Eleven Multilingual v2" that supports 28 languages, which can automatically recognize 28 languages and convert text to speech. This expansion marks the formal completion of the testing phase of the platform, making it available to enterprises and individuals.

The platform uses a new self-developed AI model, which can automatically recognize many languages, including Chinese, and generate "emotional" speech. Users can use the platform's voice cloning tool to speak in nearly 30 languages without entering text.

Mati Staniszewski, CEO and co-founder of ElevenLabs, said in a statement: "ElevenLabs's dream is that all content can be conveyed in any language and any voice. Through this release, we are one step closer to realizing this dream, so that all dialects can have a human-level AI voice. Our text-to-speech generation tool helps all creators obtain high-quality voice content."

But ElevenLabs has yet to address another controversial issue surrounding its platform and other similar platforms: the threat to the dubbing industry.

More than a month ago, ElevenLabs completed a $19 million round of financing, led by entrepreneurs Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross and a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), valuing the company at close to $100m.

The languages currently supported by Elevenlabs include:

Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Turkish, Swedish, Indonesian, Filipino, Japanese, Ukrainian, Greek, Czech, Finnish, Romanian, Danish, Bulgarian, Malay, Slovak, Croatian, Advanced Arabic and Tamil. English, Polish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Hindi and Portuguese were and are supported.
