On the afternoon of the same day, at the launch of the new AI computing strategy and AI server with the theme of "Smart Computing Infinite whole Stack Intelligence" held by Lenovo Group, not only two AI servers with outstanding performance in reducing energy consumption-Lenovo WA7780 G3 AI training server and Lenovo WA5480 G3 AI training server were launched. It also shows the Lenovo green "wisdom" represented by Lenovo's self-developed Poseidon warm water full water cooling technology, the Shanghai Jiaotong University Siyuan No. 1 liquid-cooled cluster lighthouse and the infrastructure solution of Green low-carbon Intelligence Center.

Chen Zhenkuan, vice president of Lenovo Group and general manager of the server division of China Infrastructure Business Group, said at the press conference that "green enabling" is the second major feature of Lenovo's AI computing strategy. Lenovo has made a comprehensive layout of liquid-cooled server products, and has continued to create a benchmarking case of liquid-cooled cluster scheme, constantly breaking through the difficulties of leading liquid-cooling technology, demonstrating Lenovo's green strength as a leading provider of computing infrastructure in the world.

Under the long-term deep cultivation of green and low-carbon accumulation in the past, Lenovo has fully realized the green and low-carbon energy of the full-stack intelligent layout, including AI embedded intelligent terminals, AI-oriented infrastructure and AI native services and solutions, contributing "green" power to thousands of industries, continuing the intelligent transformation of enterprises, and promoting China to achieve high-quality development out of the "green" acceleration.

AI computing power has become an important development direction of computing infrastructure. However, the explosion of demand for computing power has led to a sharp increase in computing energy consumption, and the superimposed "double carbon" goal has led to the improvement of the PUE requirements of computing infrastructure, so the green and low-carbon development of computing infrastructure is imperative.

Lenovo, as the world's leading server manufacturer, has also made a profound response to the current demand. Lenovo launched two new AI servers with "green strength" at this press conference, focusing on the strength of green products that Lenovo provides surging computing power.

Among them, Lenovo WA7780 G3 AI large-scale training server adopts triple independent air duct design in its product design, which can independently dissipate heat for CPU nodes, GPU nodes, and switch nodes, with high efficiency and energy saving. At the same time, the server has reserved liquid cooling board design, which supports liquid cooled version HGX module and CPU liquid cooling. When applied in data center with lower PUE requirements, the server avoids the problems of difficult liquid cooling adaptation and liquid leakage caused by air-to-liquid cooling, realizes rapid upgrade without affecting performance, and reduces the transformation cost.

It can be seen that Lenovo has realized the mixed design of air duct and liquid cooling, and the innovative AI server has its own powerful "green gene", which can realize the flexibility of air-cooled liquid cooling, effectively reduce energy consumption and have more performance-to-price ratio. Lenovo WA7780 G3 AI large model training server PUE is expected to be less than 1.1, reducing power consumption by about 10% compared with the same level of products.

In addition, Lenovo WA5480 G3 AI training and push integrated server, supporting power consumption monitoring of key components such as CPU, GPU, memory, and power capping control of the whole machine, dynamically ensures that the server runs in a reasonable power consumption range, ensures stable performance, and also shows the concept of green design in terms of energy saving.

In terms of green technology, liquid cooling is widely regarded as the key technology to break through the heat dissipation bottleneck and effectively reduce PUE, and gradually replace the traditional air cooling technology. Lenovo with the world's first Lenovo Poseidon warm water cooling technology has been widely praised as soon as it was unveiled. On the one hand, the technology adopts a full water-cooled fanless design, and the warm water inlet and backwater are kept between 45 degrees and 60 degrees, which has both the best energy consumption ratio and economic effectiveness; on the other hand, the technology also supports the heat dissipation of GPU and CPU multivariate computing, which meets the needs of AI computing, while reducing energy consumption while improving the performance of heterogeneous computing such as CPU computing, GPU computing and CPU+GPU.

With the support of Lenovo warm water full water cooling technology, the heat dissipation efficiency of the server can reach 98%, and the data center PUE can be reduced to less than 1.1, which is much lower than the domestic average PUE. Lenovo warm water cooling technology has been selected into the National Green data Center Advanced applicable Technology Product list compiled by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for many years, and is currently being used in more and more green data center construction, leading the green development of a new generation of computing infrastructure.

At present, Lenovo computing infrastructure business has a comprehensive layout of mainstream liquid-cooled technologies, including air-cooled mixing, full liquid-cooled, whole cabinet liquid-cooled and single-phase immersion, etc., covering general-purpose servers, AI servers, high-performance servers, liquid-cooled clusters, immersed liquid-cooled nodes and other fields. At the press conference, Lenovo also revealed that it will continue to optimize server performance and power consumption through continuous R & D investment, while introducing immersion liquid cooling technology and breaking through technical difficulties.

Chen Zhenkuan judged that Lenovo will continue to innovate and lead the future liquid cooling technology in four aspects: first, the heat dissipation problem of chips higher than kilowatts will be solved by phase change cooling plate liquid cooling technology; second, memory liquid cooling buckle plates will be used instead of "cold plate memory" to improve the efficiency of memory liquid cooling coverage; third, through the combination of 48v cabinet power supply and full liquid cooling technology, the energy efficiency of the whole cabinet will be pursued continuously. Fourth, the continuous landing of advanced data centers, continuous improvement of operation and flow control, so as to enhance the practical effect of immersion liquid cooling.

Green energy calculation, comprehensive carbon reduction, intelligent calculation center plan "launched"

At this press conference, in addition to the new AI server products, Lenovo also launched the intelligent computing center solution and service core products for the first time, and the green "wisdom" of the solution service is also infiltrated into it.

Lenovo launched a green and low-carbon infrastructure solution for the intelligent computing center, which is based on the liquid cooling technology that fully meets the national PUE requirements for the data center, and can provide green infrastructure construction, including liquid cooling system, whole cabinet liquid cooling, air-liquid combination, weak electricity intelligence, etc., and can provide services to users with different energy saving needs and budgets.

In fact, Lenovo's green service capability has achieved remarkable results in the field of supercomputing, and services such as high-performance computing solutions have been applied to more and more data centers, constantly creating industry-leading benchmarking cases. Take Lenovo's "Siyuan No.1" green water-cooled high-performance computing cluster for Shanghai Jiaotong University as an example. With a total computing power of 6000 trillion times per second (double precision), the center ranks first in high-performance computing in Chinese universities, surpassing Harvard, Cambridge and other international famous universities.

"Siyuan No. 1" has three major technical features: efficient computing, green energy saving and energy recycling. The PUE can be as low as 1.1, achieving 42% energy saving and emission reduction, providing high-quality high-performance computing services for Shanghai Jiaotong University's high-quality scientific research and innovation. Since 2013, Siyuan-1 has served more than 30 first-tier disciplines, supported users to publish more than 600 high-level papers (including 47 CNS and its sub-journals), and provided integrated computing services for more than 10 disciplines.

Lenovo is also deeply involved in the construction of regional large-scale supercomputing centers. Take Gansu Zijinyun Computing Center as an example. The largest public computing platform in northwest China in Zijinyun, Gansu Province, the public computing center not only undertakes the cooperative hub function between the west and the east, but also faces the needs of computing and storage resources in the northwest region. The mission of conveying advanced computing power between the end-edge cloud network.

Zijinyun Phase I plans to build 40 cabinets, provide 100 computing nodes and 50 GPU computing nodes (each GPU node contains 4 A100).
