CTOnews.com August 23, Microsoft today released an optional August update for Win11, as well as a new strategy to help enterprises and organizations better control Win11 updates.

Microsoft usually releases optional / non-secure updates for Win10 and Win11 systems on the 4th week of each month, mainly including fixes, new features, improvements, etc., and will be incorporated into the cumulative updates released at the Patch Tuesday event next month.

Microsoft has introduced a new strategy called "enable optional updates" in Win11 with three options. CTOnews.com attaches the following:

Automatically receive optional updates (including CFR updates): when enabled, the device automatically installs the latest optional non-secure updates, including step-by-step features.

Automatically receive optional updates: when this option is enabled, the device does not include step-by-step features and only the latest optional non-secure updates are automatically installed.

It is up to the user to choose whether or not to receive feature updates: when the device enables this option, it allows the user to choose to receive optional non-secure updates.
