Although previous beta versions of iOS 17 have revealed the functionality of this button, today's beta version of iOS 17 Beta 7 brings more clues.

9to5Mac found that iOS 17 Beta 7 adds a new vibration feedback mode for users to enable or disable mute mode. When users switch between modes, the new mode makes the phone vibrate more clearly, which should be very useful for new iPhone 15 Pro phones with operation buttons.

CTOnews.com noted that in previous versions of iOS, there was fast vibration feedback only when the iPhone entered mute mode, but not when mute mode was turned off. After this upgrade of iOS 17 Beta 7, it will also vibrate when mute mode is turned off.

When mute mode is turned off, 9to5Mac copies a new vibration mode, saying it feels like a hard knock. Through the mute switch, users can easily know when the phone is in mute mode. But if the switch is replaced by a solid-state button, vibration feedback will help indicate to the user the mode the phone is in when the button is pressed.

According to the code snippet previously discovered by MacRumors, the new action button that replaces the mute switch will have a number of options that can be assigned to clicks. For example, the user can choose to enable or disable mute mode with the Siri shortcut, or to open the camera app, turn on the flashlight, trigger focus mode, or record a voice memo.

In addition to the new operation buttons, the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to adopt a new design with a titanium frame, a narrower frame, a more efficient A17 chip, an USB-C instead of the Lightning interface, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to be equipped with a periscope lens for better optical zoom.

It is reported that Apple is expected to hold a series of iPhone 15 launches on September 12 or 13.
