CTOnews.com August 23 news, Microsoft Edge browser is about to launch a new feature, let users search related content on the web more convenient. This feature, called Smart Find, uses artificial intelligence to help users find the right word or phrase, even if they misspell it or it's incomplete.

Smart Search is already available in the Edge Canary release, and according to the latest update to Microsoft's 365 roadmap, the feature will be rolled out to all users starting in September 2023.

Microsoft describes Edge's intelligent search capabilities this way: "Artificial intelligence makes it easier to search for words or phrases on the web. Even if you misspell a word in your search query, we'll provide relevant matches and suggestions so you can easily find what you're looking for. When you search, simply select the suggested link to quickly navigate to the target word or phrase. "

Microsoft also gave an example of how intelligent search works on Wikipedia pages:

CTOnews.com notes that in addition to AI search, Edge will add two filtering options (already available in Edge 116) that allow users to match whole words and case sensitivity. Users can use the Match Case option to match entire words and accented characters. Select Show Search Options and toggle the Match Case switch to enable this filter.

If users want to experience Smart Search in advance, they can download Edge Beta, Dev or Canary versions from the official Edge Insider website. However, it should be noted that the intelligent search function currently only supports the Edge browser of Windows system, and Linux and macOS systems are temporarily unavailable.

Another search-related improvement to Edge is that users can use the "find on page" feature in the Edge sidebar. This isn't just a new location; the updated version can also display entire sentences that contain what users search for. Unlike smart search, the "find on page" feature is pushed in batches and is currently only available to some Edge internal testers.
