From January to July, the information and communications industry as a whole was running well. The revenue and total volume of telecommunications business grew steadily, and emerging businesses such as cloud computing continued to play a pulling role; the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G, gigabit optical network and Internet of things made steady progress, and the scale of network connection users continued to expand.

First, the overall operation of telecommunications business revenue and the total growth rate is stable. From January to July, telecom business revenue totaled 1.0056 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.2 percent over the same period last year. The total volume of telecommunications services calculated at the same price last year increased by 16.8% over the same period last year.

The growth rate of fixed Internet broadband business revenue increased slightly. From January to July, the revenue from Internet broadband services completed by the three basic telecommunications enterprises was 151.9 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 15.1 percent of the telecom business revenue, an increase of 0.1 percentage points over the first half of the year, and an increase of 1 percentage point in telecom business revenue.

The revenue of mobile data traffic business is growing at a low speed. From January to July, the three basic telecom companies completed 390 billion yuan in mobile data traffic business revenue, an increase of 0.4% over the same period last year, accounting for 38.8% of telecom business revenue, driving an increase of 0.2% in telecom business revenue.

The revenue of emerging business is growing rapidly. The three basic telecommunications enterprises actively developed emerging businesses such as IPTV, Internet data center, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of things. From January to July, they completed a total of 212.9 billion yuan in emerging business revenue, an increase of 19% over the same period last year, accounting for 21.2% of the telecom business revenue, driving the growth of telecom business revenue by 3.6%. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data increased by 35.5% and 42.2% respectively compared with the same period last year, and the business revenue of the Internet of things increased by 25.7%.

Voice business revenue continues to decline. From January to July, the three basic telecom companies completed 11.19 billion yuan and 66.59 billion yuan in fixed voice and mobile voice services, down 8% and 2% respectively from the same period last year, accounting for 7.7% of the total telecom business revenue, down 0.7% from the same period last year.

Second, the development of telecommunications users fixed broadband access users continue to transfer to gigabit. By the end of July, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 617 million, a net increase of 27.8 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100Mbps and above access rates reached 582 million, accounting for 94.3 percent of the total users, an increase of 0.4 percentage points over the end of last year; and the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 1000Mbps access rates reached 134 million, a net increase of 42.12 million over the end of last year, accounting for 21.7% of the total users.

5G mobile phone users account for more than 40%. By the end of July, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises had reached 1.711 billion, a net increase of 27.82 million over the end of last year. Of these, 5G mobile phone users reached 695 million, a net increase of 134 million over the end of last year, accounting for 40.6 percent of mobile phone users and an increase of 7.3 percentage points over the end of last year.

The number of cellular Internet of things users continues to expand. By the end of July, the three basic telecommunications enterprises had developed 2.148 billion cellular IoT end users, a net increase of 304 million over the end of the previous year, accounting for 55.7% of the number of mobile network terminal connections (including mobile phone users and cellular IoT end users). The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 393 million, a net increase of 12.92 million over the end of last year.

Third, the use of telecommunications services Mobile Internet users per household traffic (DOU) remains high. From January to July, the cumulative traffic of mobile Internet reached 167.7 billion GB, an increase of 14.7% over the same period last year, and the growth rate increased by 0.1% over the first half of the year. By the end of July, the number of mobile Internet users had reached 1.494 billion, a net increase of 40.32 million over the end of last year. In July, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) per household reached 17.03GB / household month, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year, which was higher than that in December last year. 0.85GB / household month.

Traditional mobile business continues to contract. From January to July, mobile phone outbound calls completed 1.31 trillion minutes, down 0.9% from the same period last year, while fixed-line caller calls completed 46.05 billion minutes, down 4.8% from the same period last year. From January to July, the volume of mobile short message business nationwide increased by 5.1% compared with the same period last year, and the revenue from mobile short message service was the same as that in the same period last year, down 0.2 percentage points and up 0.2 percentage points respectively from the first half of the year.

Fourth, the communication capacity of gigabit optical fiber broadband network. By the end of July, the number of Internet broadband access ports nationwide had reached 1.11 billion, a net increase of 39.97 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 1.07 billion, a net increase of 43.88 million over the end of last year, accounting for 96.2 percent of the Internet broadband access ports and an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the end of last year. By the end of July, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capacity reached 20.96 million, a net increase of 5.735 million over the end of last year.

5G network construction. By the end of July, the total number of 5G base stations reached 3.055 million, accounting for 26.9% of the total number of mobile base stations.

Fifth, the development of the region. The penetration rate of access users with 100 megabytes or more in the central region is slightly ahead. By the end of July, the penetration rates of 100Mbps and above fixed broadband access users in eastern, central, western and northeast regions were 94.1%, 94.9%, 94.1% and 93.8%, respectively. The number of broadband access users with 1000Mbps and above access rates in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 61.11 million, 32.65 million, 35.18 million and 4.931 million respectively, with Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shandong provinces in the forefront.

The eastern region takes the lead in 5G construction and user penetration. By the end of July, the number of 5G base stations in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 1.423 million, 679000, 759000 and 194000 respectively, accounting for 28.7%, 27.4%, 23.9% and 26.3% of the total number of mobile phone base stations in the region, respectively. The number of 5G mobile phone users reached 306.21 million, 162.5 million, 180.72 million and 45.74 million respectively, accounting for 41.2%, 40.7%, 40.1% and 38.3% of the total mobile phone users in the region, respectively.

In many provinces in the west, DOU exceeds 20GB per household month in July. From January to July, mobile Internet access traffic in the eastern, central, western and northeast regions reached 72.88 billion GB, 37.78 billion GB, 48.42 billion GB and 8.63 billion GB respectively, an increase of 17.2%, 14.3%, 11.4% and 14.3% respectively over the same period last year. In July, the average mobile Internet access traffic (DOU) of Xizang, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Hainan, Yunnan and Ningxia exceeded 20GB per household month, and the difference between the highest and lowest DOU values of each province was 15GB per household month, narrowing 0.8GB per household month compared with the same period last year.
