Yuri Borissov, director of the Russian Federal Space Agency, recently said that the main reason for the Luna-25 moon collision was the abnormal operation of the propulsion system, which eventually led it into an "incomplete lunar orbit."

The head of the Russian space agency said: "the actual working time (of the engine) is not 84 seconds as originally planned, but 127 seconds. This is the main cause of the accident of the device."

He added that before going to heaven, they had simulated several orbit correction missions on the ground station, but although the radio communication was stable and the location of the equipment was determined, however, due to the interruption of communication with the equipment, the prescribed parameter maneuver could not be carried out.

"the whole process was carried out in a stable radio communication area, and we were well aware of its location, but the connection was disconnected at 14: 57 and communication was not restored later. Preliminary orbital calculations show that due to the abnormal operation of the modified propulsion system, the device entered the open lunar orbit and crashed into the lunar surface," Borissov said.

"according to the preliminary analysis results, due to the deviation between the actual impulse parameters and the calculated values, the Luna-25 spacecraft deviated from the design orbit and collided with the lunar surface and no longer exists."
