Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com August 21 news, TSMC will invest in the establishment of two advanced wafer plants in Arizona, the first plant has been completed, thousands of advanced and precision equipment installation operations, is expected to produce 4 nm process in 2025; the construction of the second wafer plant is also in progress.
According to the Economic Daily of Taiwan, TSMC's Arizona plant has introduced the first extremely Ultraviolet (EUV) equipment there, but there are still estimated to be 2000 engineering jobs vacant.
CTOnews.com previously reported that TSMC and its suppliers plan to send hundreds more employees from Taiwan to Arizona to speed up the construction of the local plant.
Tu Yuan Pexels, Mayor Kate Gallego of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, visited TSMC's Arizona plant and said that TSMC's investment in Phoenix will make Phoenix the center of the world's most advanced semiconductors, and the most advanced microchips will soon be manufactured in Phoenix.
He said that with the steady development of TSMC wafer construction, Phoenix will support TSMC in recruiting construction and engineering-related talent, so that this future technology can be realized.
According to reports, TSMC's Arizona plant currently has 12000 plant construction personnel, but in response to equipment installation needs, suppliers are still recruiting 2000 sheet metal, electricians and other related engineers.
TSMC said it would work with suppliers to create local jobs while providing an inclusive working environment and building a sustainable supply chain.
In July this year, TSMC announced that it planned to send more Taiwanese employees to the United States in order to speed up the construction of US factories. However, the move has been dissatisfied with local workers in the United States, who believe that it will affect their wages.
Several sources on ▲ TSMC's official website revealed to the US media that TSMC is replacing local American workers by sending employees in Taiwan, or using it as an excuse to cut their wages.
TSMC responded in a statement: "the new plant in the United States is at a critical stage of construction and requires more skilled expertise." Given that the company is now at a critical stage of handling all the most advanced and specialized equipment in complex facilities, we need skilled expertise for specific TSMC construction activities in Arizona. and temporarily bring selected professionals with rich experience to Arizona who hold E2 visas to support the work and the rapid development of the project. "
So far, the number of Taiwanese workers going to Arizona has not been determined, but they will only stay in Arizona for a limited period of time for this particular construction project and will not affect the current 12000 workers, the statement said. nor will it affect the original recruitment of American factories.
According to sources, TSMC and its suppliers are negotiating with the US government to assist in the processing of non-immigrant visas, with the goal of sending more than 500 experienced employees to the United States as soon as July to speed up the installation of clean room facilities, pipelines and other equipment.
