Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com August 21 news, the recent ecological improvement of Godson LoongArch architecture is relatively rapid. CTOnews.com has recently reported that open source network boot firmware iPXE, QQ Linux version, Moore thread and other hardware and software have officially announced support for Godson LoongArch architecture.

In terms of Debian, RISC-V China Community official WeChat released news that the Debian community has formally accepted riscv64 as the official support architecture, while Debian is beginning to support Godson LoongArch architecture, and now DebianPorts has added support for Loongson LoongArch architecture, which means that DebianPorts archive images and their infrastructure include LoongArch architecture.

▲ image source buildd.debian.org the current LoongArch has now become the latest target for Debian Ports archive images. The initial Debian LoongArch bootstrap contains about 200 software packages, and developers are still working on self-managed software, and after a certain stage of work, Debian plans to start running Debian package builds on Loongson-hosted LoongArch CPU hardware.

▲ source Debian PortsDebian is one of the oldest GNU / Linux distributions and the basis for many other Linux-based operating systems, including Ubuntu, Kali, MX, and raspberry pie OS. This operating system focuses on stability and does not pursue fancy new features, so it often takes a long time for new versions to be released.

Linux release Debian 12.1, released in late July this year, mainly fixes a number of security issues, such as system user creation, and is still essentially a "minor fix" for Debian 12, but the Linux kernel has been upgraded from version 5.10 to version 6.1 LTS (with newer drivers, support for new hardware, and at least long-term support until December 2026).
